Cottonwood to Flagstaff, AZ

A story in pictures:

Tom and Tracy weighed everyone's bags this morning.  If yours weighed less than 25 pounds you got a Dairy Queen gift card.  Mine were only 20 pounds.  I've learned to travel light.

SR 89N out of Cottonwood to Sedona.  Climbing.
Dan leading Willie into Sedona.  Climbing.
Horse statue in Sedona.  There was a pink pig, but I liked this one better.

Mike R. joined Dan, Willie, and me.  Mike's a great climber.
Oak Creek Canyon.  Climbing.
 Tracy.  She does exist!

Looking back down Oak Creek Canyon from the top of the climb.  Two plus miles of 8-9% grade.  Yes, we climbed that road and much more.
Construction!

I'm not really sure what's going on here.
Lovely pine forest.
Dairy Queen.  My large chocolate milk shake tasted so good.  I used my gift card for having less luggage.
Tomorrow is a rest day.

4:02; 49 miles; 4,625' climbing; 3,117 Calories.

Tony has an interesting app on his iPhone.  Click on the link for today's ride.

  2. This is just awesome. Going to do this crossroads tour next year and love this blog. Any chance that you (or any of your riding buddies) are on strava/garmin and willing to share your profile?

  3. Sounds like a good climbing day (a la Mont Ventoux, perhaps?).
Yesterday the Redondo Peloton came together after several days of going it solo. There were a few breakaways but they were always caught. Today we go solo again. Enjoy the rest day (and congrats on the DQ gift card!).
