Richmond, IN, to Marysville, OH

Wow, what a day!  With Mother Nature's help, in the form of a tailwind, what could have been a grind turned into a fabulous ride.  For the most part, we were on farm roads with smooth surfaces and little traffic.  The tailwind pushed us along with little effort which was important as this was scheduled to be a 102 mile trek.  It was hot (90 degrees), partly cloudy, and windy (13 mph SW).

Shortly after leaving the hotel we crossed the state line into Ohio and dutifully sprinkled some sand for the wind fairies.  They were good to us today!

We encountered a road closure due to bridge construction but with mutual help were able to get by.  Later, a bridge over a freeway was not passable which added a bonus seven mile detour, making a long day even longer.  Just part of the adventure.

6:24; 110 miles; 2,388' climb; 5,695 Calories!

Chris, Mike S, and me.

Today's road.

Mike S with a friend.  Unfortunately, we didn't have any cookies to share.

Beautiful field of orange flowers just before the "road closed" sign.

With a little help from my friends.

 Are we having fun, yet?

 Golden waves of grain.

 Who knew?  The flutophone?

These farm kids were out walking their 4H pigs.

A round barn.  Developed in the early twentieth century, round barns are cheaper to build, less expensive, stronger, and more labor efficient.  Unfortunately, they didn't catch on.

 Small town USA

The number of beautiful old mansions in the towns we are going through is staggering.

The lead mare was not too sure about me.
