In 2009, I rode a bicycle 3,400 miles; from Manhattan Beach, CA to Boston, MA; with CrossRoads Cycling Adventures. It was a fantastic experience, not only for the bike ride but for the wonderful friends I made. It was so much fun, in 2011 I joined some of my buddies on a reunion ride down the eastern seaboard, from Maine to Florida.
Over the years, there has been much exchange of emails discussing getting together for another adventure but life kept getting in the way. This fall, I decided it had to be now or never; I'm not getting any younger and who knows what tomorrow may bring. So, I signed up for this year's ride to Boston and announced the fact to my friends. As a result, Cousin Harry is coming over from England, Willie is flying in from Virginia, and Peter is coming from New York. Some of the other blokes from '09 are going to join us in Champaign, IL, for the last part of the ride to Boston. I'm stoked.
This will be my blog for this year's adventure of a life time...well, one of them.
We leave from the Manhattan Beach pier on May 7. I'm in training, extending my miles weekly in preparation for many long days in the saddle.
Here's a picture of the group at the start of the ride in 2009.
